About the Event:
Perren-Luc will be performing the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major, Op. 58 with the principal members of the Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra. He will be playing with a small chamber group of string players from the Orchestra. This is in honor of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s Birthday. On the second half of the program he will be performing a selection of piano solo music. The program will end with the Brahms Piano Trio in B Major, Op. 8, 1854 version, featuring his Piano Trio from Dallas. All of the members of this trio are in high school – aged 16 to 17 and they are fantastic!
The piano will be a F308 Concert Grand Fazioli brought in especially for this Concert by Collora Pianos of Dallas, the exclusive dealer for Fazioli. Phil Gibbs is the President of Collora Pianos, and he will be attending the concert as well.

About the Musician:
Perren-Luc Thiessen
Perren-Luc Thiessen is a 16-year old pianist from Texas and a student of Dr. Tamas Ungar. He began his piano studies at the age of 7 with Mary Humm. He made his Orchestral Debut at the age of 12 with the Todi International Music Masters Festival in Italy, performing the Schumann Piano Concerto in a minor. He has performed with prestigious Symphony Orchestras around the world including the Evgeny Sevtlanov Orchestra in the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Irkutsk Symphony Orchestra in Siberia, Fort Worth Symphony, Torun Symphony in Poland, and the Round Rock Symphony. Conductors with whom he has performed include Alexander Sladkovsky, Lio Kuokman, Alpinsch Ilmar, and Przemyslaw Fiugajski among others. He was also invited to perform with orchestra in Moscow after winning the 2017 American Fine Arts International Concerto Competition. He is a regular participant in significant International festivals such as the Semper International Music Festival (Italy), the elite Young Artist Program at Piano Texas, International Piano Masterclasses (Poland), the Paderewski Academy (Poland), and the Texas State International Piano Festival, and has worked privately and in master classes with many international concert artists including Balazs Szokolay, Berndt Goetzke, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Vladimir Feltsman, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Alexander Korsantia, Natarzyna Popowa-Zydron, Fabio Bidini, and Andraz Jasinski.
Perren-Luc was one of 15 finalists, and the only American chosen from a worldwide field of 100 applicants to compete in the prestigious Grand Piano Competition in Moscow in 2018. He performed his solo program in the Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and his concerto performance with the the State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Evgeny Svetlanov” under the direction of Alexander Sladkovsky was in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and streamed live on medici.tv. He was awarded the prize of Diplomat, and as a result, Perren-Luc was personally invited by Artistic Director Denis Matsuev to perform in the “Stars of Baikal” Music Festival in Irkutsk, Siberia in September 2018. Other significant International Prizes include First Prize and Award for Best Performance of a Romantic work at the 2017 Young Pianist of the North International Piano Competition (U.K.), Second Prize, Most Promising Young Artist, and Best Chopin Performance in the Tkaczewski International Competition in Poland, and First Prize in the Debut International Piano Competition with a 2017 Carnegie (Weill) Hall Debut Recital and Debut Performance in the Ehrbar Sall in Vienna. In Texas, Perren-Luc has won numerous First Prizes, including First Prize at the State TMTA Solo Competition, Grand Prize in the McKinney Young Artist Competition, First Prizes in Dallas Solo and Dallas Symphonic Competitions, as well as First Prizes in Concerto Competitions sponsored by the Plano Symphony, Lewisville Symphony, Fort Worth Civic Orchestra, Piano Texas, and Texas State International Piano Festival. Recently, Perren-Luc won First Prize in the Weatherford International Piano Competition, and was a finalist in the 10th International Piano Competition for Young Musicians in the Netherlands, and competed in the 9th Yamaha USASU International Junior Piano Competition and the Concours International Piano Val de Travers in Switzerland.
Perren-Luc is the son of Angela Neufeld and Peter Thiessen. He enjoys playing video games with his brother Jon-Kenleigh, loves reading, writing poetry and short stories, and is an amateur barista.
